Properties
  • Isolation resistance measurement

  • Good readability

Description

The ISO-R Q96 is used to measure the isolation resistance of isolated low-voltage networks to earth. It is suitable for single-phase and multi-phase networks with and without neutral conductor up to 440V AC nominal voltage. The measurement method used is only suitable for isolated AC networks with a non-grounded neutral point. The ISO-R Q96 is suitable for use in building, industrial and marine installations. An auxiliary voltage (AC or DC) is required to operate the instrument. In case of AC supply, the instrument is equipped with an auxiliary voltage transformer (range between 100V to 440V AC). The auxiliary voltage can be taken from the network to be measured or from another network.

Measuring method

The isolation resistance between isolated networks and earth is measured. To determine the isolation resistance, a DC voltage is applied to the isolated network. The areas to be measured must be conductively connected to each other. The leakage current is determined as the result. This is proportional to the isolation resistance. The isolation resistance is displayed on an analogue scale. A limit value is set with my potentiometer on the back. The minimum value of the isolation resistance to be set is derived from the national standards or ship classifications.
If the value falls below the limit value, it can be evaluated via a dry contact. At the same time, a red "ALARM" LED lights up. Readiness for operation is signalled by a green LED "RUN".
